Refund Policy

  • Right now we are only taking group registrations, but please reach out if you’re an individual excited to go on an open enrollment trip (a trip where la group of individuals who didn’t know each other previously hang out in the woods together). If there is interest, we will plan open enrollment trips for 2027.

  • No, you don’t have to be queer to come on a Gray Treefrog Guides trip, we serve everyone. We love going on trips with queer people and creating queer community in the woods and encourage queer groups and families to book a trip!

  • We offer no-interest payment plans for up to 18 months. Please reach out if you are interested in using a payment plan.

    We offer barter or partial barter on select items/services (priced at market value). Needs change seasonally and year to year.

  • Maine Guide is a state-licensing program for guides through the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

    The Maine Guide designation denotes a significant level of outdoor guiding experience.

    Indigenous guides were the original Maine Guides. They have a long history of taking white travelers into the waterways of their homeland, what we now call the “north woods.” Their work predated the 1897 creation of the designation by hundreds of years.

    Gray Treefrog Guides operates on stolen Wabanaki Confederacy land; the Wabanaki Confederacy is made up of the Mi'kmaq, Maliseet, Passamaquoddy, Penobscot, and Abenaki nations. They have been stewarding this land for thousands of years.

    Becca will contact you to initiate final booking, trip-prep meetings, and pre-trip paperwork.

  • No! All skill levels are welcome. Together we can pick a trip destination and length that matches your skill level and ability

  • Custom itineraries are really fun. You make a proposal and we work together to shape the destination, trip length, skill type, and activity level. Custom itineraries cost more because the planning effort is greater.

    Example: “I’ve always wanted to paddle Aziscohos or hike the Barren Chairback Range, are you able to lead either of those trips for my group of four in mid-August?”

  • Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome on group bookings. Dogs must be under voice command - even when there is exciting wildlife, be familiar with the mode of travel, and have slept in a tent.

    There is a separate dog waiver for dog owners.

  • Weather can be unpredictable — and it’s getting less predictable with climate change. Our trips go ahead in rain, wind, heat, and everything in between. We’ll go over packing in detail to make sure everyone is prepared to enjoy the conditions. If an extreme weather event is forecast for your trip dates, we’ll reschedule to keep everyone safe.   • We are insured for people 10 and up. We are currently booking groups of 2-5 people.

  • Gray Treefrog Guides will provide all camping and canoeing equipment besides sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and personal clothing. Items such as water bottles, cameras, and headlamps are on the personal gear list. We have ideas about where to get less expensive outdoor clothing!
